Welcome to StopVisionFromFeeling.com!

Should the forums on the JREF prove an inadequate place to discuss Anita Ikonen's claims, I suspect this board may get some traffic. As it looks today, I would not be surprised to see yet another VFF thread be closed or moved to moderated status.

I don't intend on moderating the contents of the discussion board, but you must remember that it's my board on my dime. If I see something I don't think is appropriate, I'm going to do something about it (edit it or take it down). However, if you keep the language fairly clean and don't resort to physical threats or revealing confidential information, we shouldn't have a problem.

I won't mind if things get a little heated at times.

A few posts have prompted me to comment on the content of the board.

Steven posted a "fuck you" to Anita. My preference is that the language be kept relatively clean, so I would appreciate it if language like this were the exception rather than the rule. It lends an air of credibility to the site if the language is not too rough, and I would hate for someone not to continue researching Anita's claims because they found the place offensive (even if I personally don't mind the language). In this case I appreciate Steven's visceral reaction to Anita's suggestion that his migraine pain could be alleviated simply by the power of suggestion. That was my reaction as well. I think Anita should see how her words affect people, which is why I am more than happy to let it stand.

Anita made what is essentially a personal attack on Desertgal by bringing up DG's personal history with mental illness, which DG publicly shared elswhere. Quite frankly, I don't have a problem with this. I think it goes towards DG's credibility in her comments regarding Anita's mental health. Unlike Anita, I think this lends DG more credibility, not less. Even if I didn't feel this way, I feel it's fair to bring up in these candid discussions.

I think the image DG posted with the VFF-Meter is also somewhat of a personal attack. However, it is a fair statement of DG's reaction to how Anita has conducted herself. It approaches but does not cross the line that exists only in my head. The part I don't like about it is the reference to her hair color, but, c'mon, you don't dye your hair like that and plaster your face all over your "investigative" website if you're not after attention, so I'll let it stand as part of the joke that it is. However, that does not mean that Anita's personal appearance is fair game.

I don't intend on writing up a bunch of rules. Like I said, if I see something that I don't want on the site, I'll change it or take it down. Of course, I'll explain why, and hopefully we can work something out. I hope by commenting on these most recent items I have given everyone a good idea of where I'm coming from. I'm going to leave this thread unlocked in case anyone wants to post any questions.

I really wasn't sure about that, I put it in, took it out, put it back in again, took it out again over and over. I wrote it before bed and obviously quite angry.
Which is not exactly the best place from which to make reasoned arguments. But still as you say I'm not entirely sure "'Bloomin' eck'" would have got the point across.

My first revision of the post actually had an apology should anyone be upset by the overly aggressive end of the post or if the post would require moderation, but I ended up hitting the back key - losing the post - having the re-type it  and then forgetting to add that line again.

I agree, and I'm not bothered by it. It actually made me laugh. VisionFromFantasy, the imaginary human MRI/iextraterrestrial reincarnation/migraine healer/missing kidney post-detector/Gandhi clone/future Nobel Laureate/Ben Franklin confidante/psuedo skeptic/pseudo intellectual/[attention] whore thinks I am currently struggling with personal mental issues?
Yeah, okay. I'll get right on that with my psychiatrist. You betcha

I didn't intend it as a personal attack - rather an attack on the absurdity of the claims that Anita repeatedly uses as gambits for attention.
The part I don't like about it is the reference to her hair color, but, c'mon, you don't dye your hair like that and plaster your face all over your "investigative" website if you're not after attention, so I'll let it stand as part of the joke that it is. That was, specifically, in response to this attempt to bring attention to her claim of being an "alien", not to attack her personal appearance. I don't care what she looks like.

I saw Anita's blond alien remark after I saw your chart. Makes perfect sense now. Nice!

UncaYimmy, Thoughtful post. It's made me realize that I am letting my own personal experiences affect my responses to Vff. That probably isn't the best way of handling things. Time to put on the Spock ears and leave the emotions behind.
