| It looks like Anita is doing the circuit. Here's some good material... Link: montereycountyskeptics.blogspot.com After scanning him for sometime she gave him a clean bill of health, she said "I can not detect any diseases". When he asked her why she didn't see the "life-threatening disease" he has, she said "she wasn't checking for that". She explained that the scan could go on for hours and she didn't have a check list with her. In her defense she said, "I did not fail, because I didn't say you had something that you did not have".
I swear to God. Well, you know, if I believed in God.

It's interesting how she was in California. Again. Lots of easy marks for a woo in California, I hear.

| Hey I scored exactly the same as Anita on that test! I didn't get any wrong either! Sure I missed a few conditions, but I wasn't scanning for them either. The only difference I can find between her 'reading' and mine is that she found someone's intestines interesting (but in a non-medical way). I didn't. | | | |

| Anita is providing more evidence against her own claim every day now. This whole diabetes miss is a really bad miss. But it is made even worse by her previous claim (thanks DG for reminding us) where she claims to have actually saved someone's life due to her amazing ability to detect diabetes! How can she expect anyone to take her seriously any more? | | | |

But it is made even worse by her previous claim (thanks DG for reminding us) where she claims to have actually saved someone's life due to her amazing ability to detect diabetes! How can she expect anyone to take her seriously any more? By gaining the apparent endorsment of high level officials of such organisations as the James Randi Educational Foundation.
It doesn't even have to be an actual endorsement - just the appearance will do - so it's to be hoped that the above-mentioned officials are really careful about the things they do and say, even when not acting in their official capacity. | | | The moving finger writes and having writ, moves on.

| I wonder if Jeff Wagg still thinks Anita's abilities are 'interesting'? Or worthy of further tests? | | | |

I wonder if Jeff Wagg still thinks Anita's abilities are 'interesting'? Or worthy of further tests? Maybe that question should be put to Jeff Wagg directly. The answer would be interesting.

| Well, Ashles, let's just have a quick lookie at Jeff's last words so far on the matter, directed, by coincidence, to you in this response at the JREF Forum:
Posted by Jeff Wagg on 10 Apr 2010
You make some very good points here.
Yes, as a matter of fact. It's a shame though, that the same points have been made dozens, if not scores, if not hundreds of times already. If only more people had listened.
Posted by Jeff Wagg on 10 Apr 2010
First, the interesting thing. I've watched a lot of challenges, and every one of them has fallen in the high point of bell curve of positive outcomes. This one is the only one I can recall where the results were a little bit off the top. I find this mildly interesting, but people are taking that to mean we should all stop what we're doing and launch into and investigation immediately. This is not what I'm saying. It was simply a mildly interesting result.
Mildly interesting? That might be a little bit of an understatement, in retrospect, mightn't it?
Posted by Jeff Wagg on 10 Apr 2010
In retrospect, I should have talked more about my impressions of this test on the radio show, but that wasn't part of my purpose for having VFF on the show. In the future, I will make my position more clear if something like this arises again.
20/20 vision in hindsight isn't much fuckin' use, is it? Bummer, Jeff.
Posted by Jeff Wagg on 10 Apr 2010
As for testing, as I've said, I don't think we should ever stop testing. I don't believe VFF has any paranormal ability. I don't want to encourage her to believe that she does. However, she does, and the only way to disabuse her of that is for her to keep testing and presumably failing until she realizes that there is no ability.
Yeah, keep on testing, that's the way to do it alright. We're bound to see some kind of result . . . eventually.
Posted by Jeff Wagg on 10 Apr 2010
Unfortunately, she got one right in the IIG trial, and she is using that to bolster her belief. Fair enough; she did get that one right, so what is called for is more testing. She should be questioning why she only got one right, and not all. She should be testing and re-testing herself constantly until she gets it right every time. A challenge is like an Olympic event; you practice until you're as good as you can be.
As good as you can be at what, exactly? Scamming people? There's no doubt about it, she's getting all the help she needs. What an unexpected source though - the JREF. Never saw that one coming, did we?
Oh, wait . . . yes we did.
Posted by Jeff Wagg on 10 Apr 2010
That doesn't mean the IIG or JREF or anyone HAS to do it, it's just the only way for her to see that she doesn't actually have any power. Resources are always a problem.
Especially if they're squandered on chasing fool's errands.
Posted by Jeff Wagg on 10 Apr 2010
VFF has expressed to me that she doesn't want to believe in these things, but she has experienced them herself, and she can't ignore that. If that's a true statement, all I can do is to tell her to keep trying.
Apparently it wasn't a true statement. Fancy that. If only we'd realised it sooner . . .
Posted by Jeff Wagg on 10 Apr 2010
It's quite possible that there is something else going on, as others have suggested.

| Thanks to S Gerber for putting up the videos of Anita with Mark Edwards.
Honestly, her behaviour makes me squirm with embarrassment, especially that last video where Mark is telling her to grow up and face reality.... while she is acting like a little girl wanting to please daddy so badly with the correct guess but knowing that she most probably guessed wrong.
And the plot thickens with an IIG member in a relationship with Anita. The member in charge of the kidneys no less!

| I don't know what people are seeing. but to me she looks like a frumpy housewife who'd be at home in the audience of Ellen or Oprah.
Akhenaten, I think there should also be some ectoplasm or something issuing from her eyes -- she does seem to mesmerize some onlookers.

| Eye-lightning was my second thought, Moochie, but her hand gesture lent itself too well to the current picture.
I'll brave a second viewing of the videos and find a screen-grab suitable for rendering your eye-ctoplasm suggestion.

| I haven't seen any comments from the Wicked Witch herself yet, either here, or on the JREF Forum or on Mr Edward's blog. It's almost as if there's some kind of campaign afoot to stop her from having a platform from which to speak.

Thanks, Akhenaten. The pic above is a classic, I reckon. It looks like Mark's closing his eyes to avoid being zapped. Classic. M.
