I first encountered Anita Ikonen (VisionFromFeeling, Alenara) on the JREF Forums. The moderators on the JREF are usually tolerant when it comes to suspending people. You need to get a few "infractions" from the mods letting you know you are getting out of line. If you persist, they suspend you. If you continue along the same path, you'll eventually get banned.

Back at the end of November, Anita finally got suspended. Apparently she didn't like the moderators giving her infractions, so she threatened to abuse the system used to report posts (in other words, she threw a tantrum). She got suspended for a day. Just 10 days after that she got suspended for "multiple breaches" of the rules. This usually means the member was being a real pain in the ass.

She wasn't allowed back on the forums for a week, which was about December 18, 2009. On December 28, Anita had another meltdown. She received five infractions in less than two days. These were mostly for personal attacks on other members including our very own V.P. of Patient Relations, Desertgal. Many of us felt she deserved more infractions, but we all figured, "Who cares? Five infractions coming just 10 days after back-to-back suspensions means a really long suspension."

We were wrong. Apparently the JREF Forum administrators were "too busy" around the holidays to do their job. They decided she would not be suspended because it took them several days to review the infractions. To be fair, they might have suspended a few other people from that contentious thread, but they didn't. Personally, I was shocked. Based on what I've seen there with other members, I expected at least a two week suspension if not 30 days. The admins really hate it when a member openly defies them after receiving a suspension.

Anita went quiet, then came back to the forums again. She had several posts tossed into Abandon All Hope, which is where the mods dump inappropriate posts. Then in early March, she changed her signature to personally attack Desertgal. Again. It was the same person and type of attack for which she has received multiple infractions. The mods changed her signature to remove the attack and put her on notice. Personally, I think she deserved a suspension considering her history.

So what did Anita Ikonen do? She changed her signature again. This time, she made what looked like a link to this website, only it actually went to a post on the JREF with a personal attack on Desertgal. This time the admins suspended her and took away her signature privileges. It was only for a week even though her last suspension was for a week (usually they get longer).

So what did Anita do? Apparently she harassed Darat, the administrator who suspended her, by "spamming" him with private messages. Remember, she was suspended for threatening to spam the mods via the reporting system. What did Darat do? He extended her suspension by a week.

There have been accusations of favoritism by the mods regarding VisionFromFeeling. Personally, I think those accusations have merit. She has gotten away with things that in my opinion others would not. So GreyICE, a JREF Forums member who doesn't hang out here, started a thread in Forum Management suggesting that a ban would have been more appropriate. Personally, I agree with that sentiment. Darat, however, closed the thread almost immediately saying that nothing anyone could say would affect his decision. Interestingly, when members start threads protesting a suspension or banning, Darat allows the threads to run their course and be discussed. Why did he close this thread within hours?

I think the reason is that the JREF itself wants Anita Ikonen treated with kid gloves. Last year she inquired about taking the JREF $1M Challenge. More importantly, last year a member contacted Anita's university mental health clinic and pointed them towards her website. This is perfectly legal and ethical - the counseling center is bound by confidentiality laws, so Anita was not at any risk. The member did not say Anita was mentally ill but only suggested that professionals check her out. When the member announced she had done this, there was quite the shit storm. The JREF moderators got all worked up, but ultimately decided that it wasn't any of their business. I'm betting the JREF management was involved in that discussion, which is why I believe VisionFromFeeling is receiving special treatment.

There are those that like to say that Anita is just some nice, innocent girl. Truth is she's a grown woman who is vindictive. She's harassed me repeatedly, which is why she was banned from posting on this board. She's harassed Darat, the JREF admin. She's personally attacked a number of members. And she's repeatedly sent private messages to members who have resorted to publicly asking her to stop harassing them.

She's just not a nice person.

Wow! I've almost never agreed with every word someone else has written! I endorse UncaYimmy's post 100%. I'm sure the JREF gives Anita special treatment because she's expressed interest in the MDC.

If she limited herself to blathering about her (non-existent) abilities as a human MRI and her att. migraine treatments, she'd be a problem.

But her promotion of the lethal practice of Breatharianism confirms that she is not a potentially dangerous person; she's an already dangerous person.

If she were a dumpy middle-aged woman instead of a marginally attractive young woman, would this fact be more apparent to everyone? How would people respond to her if she were a man?

Let me save Anita some trouble here:
"Jim Carr, how dare you! I'll have you know that when I'm not harassing and attacking people on the Internet, or flouting my imaginary superiority over all you humans through a virtual bullhorn, or seeking attention with all my strength, I'm just a sweet, innocent ingenue. Want affidavits to prove it? I've got 'em. I'll post them...eventually. I even asked the migraine guy to admit to a lie and declare that I am a nice person, and he refused. Jim Carr, I want you to know that I have a very bad heart problem and, if you don't see me posting for a while, it's because I'm temporarily dead. Oh, look, I "cured" my heart problem. Want affidavits to prove it? I've got 'em. I'll post them...eventually. Jim Carr, if you don't stop saying I'm not a nice person, I'm going to call a lawyer. Or the cops. Or the Secret Service. Anyway...want to see my boobs? Anyone?"
I think that about covers it. No thanks necessary, Anita.

There is a sizable body of evidence suggesting the JREF moderators and staff are biased when it comes to their treatment of Anita. In a discussion with Jeff Wagg, General Manager of the JREF, when I pointed to some clear and obvious examples of that bias, he stuffed his fingers in his ears and mumbled, "La la la la." He intentionally ignored the evidence, called me a liar for bringing it forward, claimed that *I* didn't want to discuss the matter, then promptly proceeded to ignore me.

When I've brought the issue of bias to the attention of the JREF forum moderators, I've been sternly warned that I should just shut the Hell up about it or risk a suspension.

There doesn't seem to be an obvious motive for the special treatment Anita receives, but I do suspect Locknar has the hots for her. It looks like he's been stupid enough to buy into her little innocent girl act, so he intentionally runs interference for her.

As for Darat and the moderators, they get pretty uncomfortable when anyone points out incidents of their crappy moderation. They seem to go into defensive mode, and instead of admitting their faults and dealing with the forum and Anita as they should, they turn it back around and blame the messenger. Pretty immature way to run a forum, or to deal with adults in real life for that matter, but most of us are used to their antics by now.

More directly to the point of the above article: Anita is indeed a vindictive bitch who has apparently received special attention often enough that she believes she deserves it. Good for the JREF for suspending her this time and for extending the suspension when she acted out. If they had been consistent since the beginning she'd be an ex-member by now.

She has demonstrated that she doesn't have the mental and/or social maturity and/or stability to get along with real people in the real world. (Might be why she's invented her own fantasy world and works so desperately to remain inside of it.) It might be a while, but eventually she'll likely get herself banned from the JREF forum. I can't think of anyone who will have any sympathy for her when she does (except possibly a couple of those JREF moderators who have shown that they're stupid enough to buy into her act).

Funny then that you would get suspended too, Jim Carr. What were your charges, care to share?

Yes, I got suspended for a day for allegedly "abusing" the report system. My abuse? I reported a post by Remirol where he called me "dude." Where I come from, dude is often an insult, especially when used to address people you don't like (Remirol and I can't stand each other). Darat has directed people to report members who call them by "nicknames" or altered versions of their screen name if they find it objectionable. For example, a member received an infraction for calling Darat "Daratyboy."

I have a public history of objecting to the use of the word dude. Use the advanced search on the forums to search for posts by me with the word "dude" in them, and you will see this is not just something I made up. Do a Google search for the words dude and derogatory, and you will see that I am not alone in interpreting "dude" as being an insult in some contexts.

I understand that the moderators may not believe my report warranted action, but I cannot believe it is so wholly without merit that I deserve even a one day suspension for "abusing" the report system for reporting it one time. I firmly believe my outspoken criticism of the moderation played a major factor in the decision.

So, Anita, what's your explanation for having a one-week suspension extended to two weeks for harassing Darat?

Absolutely. Their claim that the moderators and admins aren't biased is bullshit. Even they can't possibly believe it themselves.

Darat says in his thread named "How to get the best out of Forum Management" found at the top of the Forum Management section...

"The description of this section says that it's purpose is to "Discuss concerns, complaints, and board management issues...." and that is exactly what it is for. What it is not for is to discuss things like, how forums in general are managed, other forums or each other's failings."

But of course if you report someone for incivility, off topic posts, and/or discussing each other's failings, you will be threatened with suspension. So the above quote by Darat is just another example of his incompetence. I believe, in light of the fact that those are meaningless words, that he should remove that from his "helpful tips" post. Someone might be inclined to misunderstand and think he actually means what he's saying there.

It's interesting that you included no examples of VFF's abuse. I trust the JREF moderators but would like to see some evidence of her "attacking other posters".

As for you, you are seriously obesessed with Anita. While it's great to preempt woo-artists before they do major damage, you seem to have way to much personal interest, and are not objective. Try using the "sober voice".

WaveRocky - The mods ultimately banned Anita Ikonen aka VisionFromFeeling aka Alenara the Breatharian from the JREF forums for repeated personal attacks and other abuses of the forum. Some of what she wrote was so bad it was permanently deleted by the moderators. Some you can still find in a members-only (and read-only) forum called Abandon All Hope - it's where the dump the posts that are not worthy of leaving on the forum. If you're a member (or become one), send me a private message (UncaYimmy), and I'll direct you to all the evidence you'll need.
